Who are you?
I’m Emma Flood a writer and Head of Content living in Glasgow, Scotland. Mid-thirties, child-free and partner-free (at time of writing). Like many a stereotypical Millennial, I have a small dog. His name is Henry. I’ve built my life around learning and adventure and I rarely say no to an opportunity. Every New Year I set a goal for every year old I am. My favourite city in the world is Paris, where I lived during my Erasmus year with six Mexicans. We’ll come back to that. I once opened a taco shop. I’ve been a makeup artist. I worked at Walt Disney World, Orlando. Frequently, I travel alone, a wonderful way to imagine yourself as someone new. In 2019 I went on 37 first dates. I’m really close to my grandmother. I rarely buy clothes, but I am deeply in love with most of the items in my wardrobe. I like TV shows that come out weekly, it forces you to savour every minute. I can’t follow a recipe and cook largely on vibes. I’m a morning person. I’m obsessed with living a better and more meaningful life.

Why Substack?
I chose Substack over any other platform because it has the tools to connect with a community in an intimate way. Each newsletter and post is a letter from me to you. You can respond or chat with other people who are as invested in finding the perfect cosy bar in Paris to read books and drink wine in as you are. No interruptions from trolls, ads, influencers, DM guys. The recommendations here are genuine and come from a life well lived.
